Simon Milton

MovingBeyond Co-founder 

Alongside MB, Simon is Founder and CEO of Pulse. He has dedicated the last 20 years to working with businesses on the qualities required to understand new ways of driving growth through purposeful leadership. His work has helped leaders consider new approaches to thinking about a clear purpose and envisioned future. He recognised that reputation is built from what organisations do rather than what they say. Simon has worked for organisations as diverse as Alibaba, Tata Steel, Jaguar, Permira, Moneyline, Schroders and BP. He is also a founder and trustee of the Social Business Trust, which was set up to help scale social enterprises, and a member of Extinction Rebellion Catalysers focused on decarbonising the energy system.

Jamie Anley

MovingBeyond Co-founder 

Before MB, Jamie founded the creative agency JAM (Design & Communications ltd) in 1995, an organisation famous for holding the cutting edge of delivering progressive and strategic creative leadership for global brands. With 20-years of experience in the creative world and a highly developed network of internationally renowned change-makers, Jamie led specialist consultancy Beautiful Corporations from 2017 – 2023, helping some of the biggest brands discover their purpose. 

Maria O'Connor

Director

Working alongside Jamie and Simon, Maria is responsible for the day-to-day running of MovingBeyond. Following completing a PhD in Philosophy in her twenties, Maria changed course and entered the world of business with a passion for purpose-driven strategy. She is a freelance consultant with experience ranging from start-ups and non-profits all the way to national government and global brands. Maria works exclusively on projects that pursue positive social and climate impact goals. Maria is also training to be a certified Life Coach (NBHWC-approved program), drawing on practices in life and health coaching methodology, neuroscience, positive psychology, meditation and ancient Ayurvedic wisdom. 

Ant Conlin

Ant’s work is the culmination of three things: his formal training as a mechanical engineer, his career in advertising, working with some of the biggest brands in the world and his dedication to accelerating the energy transition. 

Ant is a Creative Director with over 10 years experience in the world of advertising and brand communications. He’s worked with some of the most influential brands in the world and now helps organisations that want to use creativity for good. Alongside his consultancy work, Ant has co-founded thisisagency.org – a non-profit on a mission to help deliver Article 12 of the Paris Agreement by reimagining climate communication.

Andrew Leith

Andrew has worked on client projects for Arup, bp, Rumaila, Aureos and Digital+. Andrew’s skill set goes beyond design – he provides insight and support to all team members on innovative approaches to leadership and audience engagement. 

As an engineer, he sees and understands the complexity of organisations and culture. He previously worked for Deep End, a leading digital agency and the strategy innovation agency, Nowhere for clients like WHSmith and Syngenta. Andrew has developed brand engagement programmes and leadership off-sites for numerous clients such as Unilever and Dell.

Robert Goodsell

Originally trained as an engineer and economist, Robert worked within large international companies in IT and the extractive industries for 25 years in a variety of roles before becoming an OD and communication consultant specialising in major change and restructuring projects.

Whilst continuing to support Simon Milton and Pulse Brands, Robert co-founded in 2011 a social enterprise Akatemia CIC to bring a more practical ‘learning by doing’ degrees to UK business schools. This was borne out of frustration, experienced both in his consulting career and in-house with the failure of many academic institutions to create courageous independent thinking and work-ready graduates.

Becs Johnson

Becs is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) and has been part of Extinction Rebellion Catalysers, facilitating Fire and Earth Circles, and XRPsychologists. She is hugely inspired by Joanna Macy’s spiral of The Work That Reconnects and has attended and facilitated workshops and a book group based on ‘Active Hope; How to Face the Mess we’re in Without Going Crazy’ (Macy and Johnstone, 2012). 
 
Becs has been involved in previous MBs as a space holder and design team member. She co-founded This is Agency following the first MB, and is working hard to harness the magic of advertising to accelerate a paradigm shift in mainstream culture. No small task! 
 
Meanwhile, she is employed in the NHS as Development Manager and Strategic Lead for the Solihull Approach; a relationship focussed approach for children and families, promoting lifelong emotional literacy, well-being and mental health at whole population scale.

Jo Alexander

Jo is a Geologist/Earth Scientist with a passion for mitigating the impacts of climate change and enabling people to have careers that contribute to tackling the world’s greatest challenges.

Jo has worked for bp, a company that is experiencing significant change, catalysed by it’s purpose of ‘Reimagining energy for people and our planet’. bp aims to become a net zero company by 2050 or sooner, and help the world get to net zero. Jo’s work is to help make the systemic changes needed to bring bp’s purpose to life and enable a just transition.

Helena Farstad

Helena is a Chartered Management Accountant and a Business Consultant who has worked in the Environmental Sustainability space for over a decade. Helena co-founded XR Catalysers in 2019 and has since focused on increasing individual agency to address the environmental crisis through connecting and supporting people to give each other courage to do what we need to limit the impact of the environmental crisis. Helena currently supports the Climate Majority Project, is a co-founder and director of This is Agency, director of Youths & Environmental Advocacy Centre UK, and have co-founded two local London based activist groups focusing on Air Quality and Net Zero. She is Norwegian, married, mum of two girls and two dogs.

Russell Smith

A Vice President Major Capital Projects with 40 years experience. Left BP at the end of 2020. Open to future opportunities in Vice President, Non-Exec Director, Senior Advisor, Consulting roles. Passion for helping enterprises, governments, and society, navigate the energy transition, and connecting human energy to improve the world. 

Experience in initiating, leading and delivering large scale (multi $Billion), complex Energy and Infrastructure Sector projects in global locations with diverse technical, commercial, fiscal, social and regulatory environments.

 

Richard Tyrie

Richard Tyrie FRSA is a social entrepreneur with over 25 years’  experience scaling impact technology ventures.   He pioneered the use of technology in recruitment in 1995 and now advises government and major employers on labour market strategy.   He is now co-founder and CEO of GoodPeople – a labour market specialist that works with public, private and civil society partners to create high-impact employment and community health programmes.   Richard is also a co-founder of climate ventures Gather, and B Foundry.

Joss Hunt

Joss is a social entrepreneur, strategist and advisor for purpose-driven organisations. Co-founder of tech for good startup GoodPeople and climate collectives B Foundry and Gather, his work aims to support fairer, happier, more inclusive communities. Joss also has a commercial background in advertising, where he ran large-scale campaigns for global brands, government departments and non-profits.

Nicola Okafor

Nicola is responsible for the planning and logistics of Moving Beyond. Working closely with Maria on execution, she brings over 10 years’ experience of delivering events globally.

Nicola studied Film at University but found her true passion after being elected at RAG (raise and give) officer when she began leading events in her local community. She now works for Powwow Events agency based in London and holds the position of project director, working with several professional services clients and charities. Nicola’s passion is for delivering events that inspire and connect people.

Josh Morley Fletcher

Josh likes to operate at the crossover of innovation and sustainability. He has developed his sustainability skills and knowledge through working for an impact-driven start-up Ocean Bottle, studying a Masters in Environmental Technology at Imperial College and now working across a broad mix of sectors as an Impact Advisor for Volans, a Sustainability Think Tank and Advisory.  

Along this journey, Josh has gained insight into the power and potential of, and need for regenerative business approaches. What makes Josh tick is bringing people together to solve the Wicked problems that we face, designing and facilitating creative, brave spaces for them to collaborate and build a better future. 

Outside of the office, Josh continues to explore this passion in the natural world, engaged in a variety of activities; switching between his yoga mat (currently halfway through his teacher training), hiking shoes or wetsuit, drawn to water for regular swims or surfs.

Matthew Bell

Board Director and Joint-Head of Public Policy, Frontier Economics

Matthew is an economist with a breadth of experience: industrial organisation, growth, consumer and public behaviour, evaluation and appraisal, best use and formulation of regulation, taxation, choice and competition for public services. He runs a private-sector advisory practices and led a major public sector organisation with direct responsibilities to the UK Parliament. He was awarded an OBE for services to combating climate change in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours for his role as CEO of the UK Committee on Climate Change.

James Close

Head of Climate Centre of Excellence, NatWest Group

James is currently Head of Climate Change for NatWest Group. For over ten years, his primary focus has been, and remains, addressing the threat of climate change. James is committed to enabling finance to focus on the transition to net zero by financing technology and business models that reduce emissions, build resilience and promote the principles of a circular economy. Climate-smart finance will enable investors and savers to ensure that their investments are consistent with their values to create an environmentally, socially and economically viable future.

 

Gardiner Hill

Chair, UK Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre’s (IDRIC) Independent Advisory Board

Gardiner currently holds the position of Chair of the UK Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre’s (IDRIC) Independent Advisory Board (IAB) and is collaborating with Harvard University and various NGO’s. Prior to this, Gardiner was Vice President of Carbon Management at bp, responsible for leading bp’s strategy on Carbon Management and developing the company’s carbon aims. Gardiner established and managed the bp Princeton Carbon Mitigation Initiative (CMI) at Princeton University, as well as the bp Harvard Kennedy School Climate Policy programme and the bp Tufts University Policy programme.

Charlotte Blommestijn

Strategy Advisor, Energy Transition at Shell

Charlotte is a sustainability strategist, specialized in corporate action for an inclusive net- zero emissions economy. She joined Shell in May 2020 as a Strategy Advisor helping the company advance its energy transition and carbon strategy. Currently she heads up the Strategic Advocacy and Partnerships team. Previous to Shell, Charlotte was involved with The B-Team’s Net-Zero by 2050 initiatives, driving courageous CEO leadership on climate action and creating an inclusive economy.

Roger Leese

Co-Head of the Business and Human Rights Group, member of Clifford Chance ESG, Responsible Business and Environment Boards

As a Partner in Clifford Chance’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice, Roger has acted on a range of investigations and disputes, with a focus on financial investors and merger and acquisitions, and increasingly on responsible investment. He also advises on a range of climate change and human rights-related business issues. Roger is responsible for the pro bono and Community Affairs programmes globally. He co-founded the legal charity, Advocates for International Development (A4ID) and environmental charity, the Lifescape Project.

Geoff Versteeg

Partner, Bain & Company

Geoff is a Partner Bain’s Energy & Natural Resources practice, based in the UK. Since joining Bain in 2007, Geoff has developed deep expertise working with Bain’s UK and international energy clients across a full range of topics from strategy and organisational design to performance improvement and change management. He has repeated experience leading Bain clients through multi-year transformations. His energy expertise includes nuclear generation across the full lifecycle, asset/infrastructure evolution through the energy transition, and energy retail covering B2C and B2B from strategy and customer value through to technology and operations. 

Esther Foreman

CEO, The Social Change Agency

Esther has spent over 20 years working in the not for profit, social enterprise and business sectors, running award-winning campaigns, supporting enterprise and building teams. She founded the Social Change Agency in 2013 with a desire to combine organising, technology, comms and social enterprise to create a leading non sector-specific agency to improve movement building across the world.
